On the eve of her wedding to Prince Kwan, Princess Elfina watches her kingdom of Fiel fall to an invading army from Valdland. Prince Viceard leads the assault that leaves Kwan gravely wounded and the princess along with the other women of Fiel taken into captivity. Just as the victor secures his prize, a visitor from his past brings news of his father’s deadly intentions. The arrival softens Viceard’s manner toward Elfina, yet the approaching king and Kwan’s flight soon stir fresh turmoil across the occupied realm.
