Mikio returns to his hometown for the first time in months and revisits the classic onsen inn overseen by Chitose, his longtime acquaintance and former lover. Though she retains her youthful charm, the traditional garments she dons enhance her sophisticated allure. Once his evening obligations are fulfilled, he follows the sound of her voice toward a private outdoor bathing area. Peering through the bamboo barrier, he is taken aback by the unexpected scene unfolding before him.
